Doctrine and Theology – The Fellowship of Christ

Doctrine and Theology

As a Christian ecumenical movement, the center of Latter Day Saint/Mormon worship is Jesus Christ. Anyone with a testimony of Jesus Christ or looking to learn of Him is welcome to worship and learn with the Fellowship of Christ. We all learn and grow our own levels and we all should grow together in Christ.

The Doctrine of Christ

The Bible and the Book of Mormon give us Jesus’ doctrine clearly:

“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” -Mark 1:15

And…

“Behold, verily, verily, I say unto you: I will declare unto you my doctrine… repent and believe in me. -3 Nephi 5:32-35 RAV, 11:31-34 OPV

The Teachings of Christ

1. Build your relationship with God (see Matthew 6:5-18; 3 Nephi 5:97-109 RAV, 13:5-18 OPV)

“Ye are my friends… I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.” -John 15:14-15

2. Love your neighbors  (see Leviticus 19:18; Matthew 5:21-26, 43-48, 7:1-6; 3 Nephi 5:69-75, 89-92, 6:13-18 RAV; 12:21-26, 43-48, 14:1-6 OPV)

“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment, and the second is like unto it: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself; on these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”  -Matthew 22:37-40

3. Love your spouse (See Matthew 5:27-32; 3 Nephi 5:76-80 RAV; 12:27-32 OPV)

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.” -Ephesians 5:25

4. Mean what you say, say what you mean (see Matthew 5:33-37; 3 Nephi 5:81-83 RAV, 12:33-37 OPV)

“Swear not at all… But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay.” -Matthew 5:34, 37

5. Give merely to give, give generously (see Matthew 5:38-6:4; 3 Nephi 5:84-96 RAV, 12:38-13:4 OPV)

“Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.”  -Matthew 5:42

6. Look to God in all things (see Matthew 6:19-34, 7:7-12; 3 Nephi 5:110-6:12, 6:19-24 RAV; 13:19-34, 14:7-12 OPV)

“Yea, and cry unto God for all thy support; yea, let all thy doings be unto the Lord, and whithersoever thou goest let it be in the Lord; yea, let all thy thoughts be directed unto the Lord; yea, let the affections of thy heart be placed upon the Lord forever.” -Alma  37:36 OPV

7. Walk in teshuvah (see Matthew 7:13-14; 3 Nephi 6:25-26 RAV, 14:13-14 OPV)

“I have repented of my sins and have been redeemed of the Lord; behold, I am born of the Spirit.” -Mosiah 11:186 RAV, 27:24 OPV

8. Seek the good, be the good, do good deeds becasue it is who you are (see Matthew 7:15-27; 3 Nephi 6:27-37 RAV, 14:15-27 OPV)

“Ye are the light of the world; a city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” -Matthew 5:14

9. Ecumenism: the unity of Churches (see Mark 9:38-41; Moroni 7:3-18 RAV, 7:3-19 OPV)

“Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us… that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.” -John 17:20-23

“And now, behold, I ask of you, my brethren of the Church: Have ye spiritually been born of God? Have ye received his image in your countenances? Have ye experienced this mighty change in your hearts?” -Alma 3:27-29 RAV, 5:14 OPV
