The letter and revelation by Joseph Smith Jr. to James Strang. Emma Smith verified that Joseph Smith Jr. write the letter. And, The handwriting was verified by the firm,Tyrell and Doud, who stated: “A brief observation of these four documents indicates that the education and word usage was consistent with the theory that all four documents were authored by one individual” (Shepard, William 1977; James J. Strang: Teachings of a Mormon Prophet. Burlington, WI).
The instructions given by Joseph Smith Jr., as recorded by William Clayton February 9, 1843, are mirrored by the June 27, 1839 entry in Wilford Woodruff’s journals. Both are presented here.
The following teachings are attributed to Joseph Smith Jr. were shortened and altered before they were included in the Church of Jesus Chrsit of Latter-day Saints’ Doctrine and Covenants. After praying on this section, it was decided that the actual journal entries William Clayton that this section was taken from would be used.
The following vision was received by Joseph Smith Jr. July 12, 1843 in Nauvoo, Illinois. From the diary of Joseph Smith Jr.: “Wednesday, July 12. Received a Revelation in the office in presence of Hyrum Smith, and William Clayton.”
The following vision was received by Joseph Smith Jr. January 21, 1836 in Kirtland, OH. It was recorded in his September 1835–April 1836 journal on pages 135-139 in the handwriting of Warren Parrish. It was shortened and altered before being included in the Church of Jesus Chrsit of Latter-day Saints’ Doctrine and Covenants.
